Cyclist killed in Rivonia Road

A slightly damaged car that hit a cyclist to death.

A bicycle ride to work turned out to be the last one of his life for a man who was hit by a car in Rivonia Road on Tuesday morning.

The wrecked bicycle that belonged to the deceased after a tragic accident that cost his life.

A few blocks from Sandton City, a slightly damaged red Mini Cooper, a mangled bicycle, and a lifeless body covered with foil were evidence of a tragic accident. The flow of the traffic was affected as a result of the accident.

According to the driver of the vehicle, Derick Simpson the man seemed out of his mind as he carelessly pedaled across the road.

“I didn’t even see him as I was concentrating on the green robot that gave me right of way. The guy appeared in front of me riding slowly like someone cycling in a park,” explained Simpson.

Metro police officials at the scene said the man appeared to be in his 30s, but could not reveal his identity until his next of kin were informed. sc@caxton.co.za
