Mysterious circumstances surround the death of 57-year-old Marlboro Gardens resident Farouk ‘Boy’ Mehter, whose body was found in the boot of his car in downtown Johannesburg.

“His car was found on the corner of Commissioner and Goud streets on the day he was reported missing,” said Bramley police spokesman Inspector Moses Maphakela.

Mehter was last seen at the end of September when he left home for work.

“He went to work and never returned,” said younger brother Essack Mather. “We thought he would but after a few days reported him missing at Bramley police station. Family and friends are truly shocked.”

Maphakela said Mehter sustained trauma to his head but that an official autopsy report was awaited. Police took fingerprint samples from the car and the body and were investigating a case of abduction and murder.
