Crime briefs are a weekly update of crime in the Sandton area, with detailed accounts of the arrests that have been made and crimes that have been committed recently.

HOUSE ROBBERY
Buccleuch: While a man was watching TV his son walked into the TV room with a man pointing a gun at him. Two more men joined them and forced the father and son to lie down. The men ransacked the house and were joined by two more who helped steal jewellery and cash before they fled in a car. They gained access to the house while the son was outside smoking.
Bryanston: A family were at home when they were confronted by three armed men who robbed them of cellphones, jewellry and a laptop, computer and TV. Before they left, the men locked the family in the bathroom. The men drove a silver BMW and gained access by derailing the gate.

HOUSE ROBBERY AND THEFT OF CAR
Bryanston: A man arrived home and parked his car in his allocated parking area at his complex when he was approached by an armed man. The man asked him where he lived before robbing him of his cellphone and car keys. Two more men arrived and forced the man into his unit. They locked the resident and his house mate inside the bathroom. Meanwhile the two security guards at the gate were held up by another man and, as a resident drove into the complex, he was held up at gunpoint and robbed of his wristwatch by another man. The men involved in both incidents left in a Mercedes Benz and a silver Honda Accord.

RANDBURG POLICE STATION

ARMED ROBBERY:
Bryanston:  Staff were waiting outside their place of work when they were approached by two armed men. The men told the staff to unlock the premises, but they didn’t have keys. The men forced the doors open, stole clothing and forced the staff to load it into a car, in which they escaped.
