Crime briefs are a weekly update of crime in the Sandton area, with detailed accounts of the arrests that have been made and crrimes that have been committed.

SANDTON POLICE STATION (011-722-4200)

Incidents
Morningside: On 31 May at about 3.30am, a man heard a noise inside his home in West Road North. Three men inside the home grabbed him and tied him up. While they searched his house, the man managed to untie himself and ran for help. The three men fled the scene with jewellery and a cellphone.
Parkmore: On 3 June at 7.50pm, a woman entered her garage in 14th street. As the door closed, she was approached by a man with a firearm. Three more men appeared  and the woman was forced into her home and locked in the bathroom. The men fled with a laptop, jewellery and a cellphone.

Theft under false pretences 1; fraud 13; theft 10; assault 2; drunk driving 12; use of motor vehicle without owner’s consent 2; reckless and negligent driving 4; shoplifting 12; house robbery 1; illegal immigrants 27; assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm 2; attempted murder 1; interfering with police duties 1; theft out of motor vehicle 1; domestic violence 1; drunk in public 1 and bilking 1.

RANDBURG POLICE STATION (011-449-9000)

Incidents
Bryanston: On 1 June between 9.15am and 2.30pm, a residential premises at Dundee Street was broken into. Entry was gained by breaking the window. Electrical appliances were stolen.

Arrests
Possession of dagga 1; reckless and negligent driving 3; possession of unlicensed firearm 1; robbery 2; theft 5; fraud 1; business robbery 1.

Arrests
Illegal immigrants 2; accomplice to rape 1; violation of protection order 1; drunkenness 1; possession of suspected stolen property 1; driving under the influence of liquor 3; loitering 9; assault common 4; theft 8; drinking in public 1; theft out of motor vehicle 1; fraud 1; armed robbery 2; assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm 1; domestic violence 2 and attempted murder 1.
